Roxaboxen - The Park

Those who love the picturebook ROXABOXEN, or have read Marian's own history of the town the children created on that special hill, will be glad to know that Roxaboxen will indeed always be there. In the spring of 2000, the City of Yuma finally dedicated a restored Roxaboxen as a natural desert park, a place where children can always create their own houses and communities -- just as Marian, her sisters, and their friends once did. I was unable to attend the dedication ceremonies --I was visiting schools in Illinois just then -- but the photographs my cousin Bill took let me be there in imagination. Bill is Little Jean's son.
