My second book with Tambourine came out in
the autumn of 1992, with unique illustrations by
Valery Vasiliev, an artist well-known in Russia.
Set in "a village so far away from the here and now that people still ate porridge for breakfast and not everyone had forgotten how to do magic," it tells of the quest of a boy named Pavel. Pavel searches for a wonderful song he hears every night in his dreams -- but then never can remember the next morning. Parents who read this story will know what the song is really about. It took me over five years to get this story right, and it was an ABA Pick of the List. Like my other book with Tambourine, it was out of print breathtakingly fast. |
