Most of my writing is intended either for kids or for readers of
pretty much any age.
But every now and then I have a chance to
write a piece specifically targeting the adult reader.
So far I have not
written an entire book aimed at such an audience.
You'll see that my
name doesn't appear as author on the cover of the book displayed here.
I'm not cheating to show that, however; some of the words inside are
indeed my own.
It's an anthology, not a book by a single author.
This excellent collection of essays and interviews was created and
edited by Juanita Havill,
a notable children's author who like a lot of us
is concerned about the forces and trends that shape what is offered to
today's young readers.
She collected contributions from a lot of
us in the field of children's literature:
authors and illustrators, editors
and agents, educators and storytellers.
It's a varied and fascinating collection.
I was honored when she chose my contribution,
Too Many Words, as the lead essay.
I write articles for journals and magazines, too, but most of those are in
publications for other writers.
Your library isn't likely to have issues.
One fairly recent article was, however, written for the web magazine
Critique.
so you can, if you like,
read it on the Internet.
I hope you'll want to do that!
